fluorescent tubes & globes

Fluorescent bulbs last at least 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs and use half as much energy. It is not surprising that there is a global policy shift away from incandescent bulbs.

One consequence of this shift is the need to deal with disposal of fluorescent tubes and bulbs as they contain mercury and cannot be included in general waste. The mercury in one fluorescent tube can pollute 30 000L of water beyond a safe level to drink, this is about the average amount of water in a residential swimming pool.

ntrs recycles 100% of fluorescent tubes and bulbs.

  • The glass is recycled
  • The metal is recycled
  • The plastic is recycled
  • The mercury is recycled

The recycled mercury is used in X-Rays and tooth fillings.

It costs around $1 to recycle a fluorescent tube, this is only about 10% of the saving you will make by having fluorescent tubes and bulbs. Using fluorescent tubes and bulbs will significantly reduce your energy usage and costs.
